The workshop will introduce the Asian Children’s Literature in English to participants through translating, discussing and analysing original works in English in order to show case the rich variety that is available. A list of resource materials will also be made available to all participants. 


  1. To introduce the wide range of Asian children’s literature to teachers.
  2. To provide teachers with the tools to read, analyze and engage children in their reading of Asian children’s literature.
  3. To show teachers how to use Asian children’s literature in their English and mother tongue lessons.
  4. To assist teachers in delivering inspiring lessons with Asian children’s literature. 

About the Trainer: Dr Maha Sripathy

Dr Maha Sripathy is an experienced and dedicated educator who works with pre- service and in-service teachers in Singapore and Australia. She also teaches professional Early Childhood training programmes in private institutions. As former secretary and president of the Society for Reading and Literacy, she had organised many successful reading-writing workshops for teachers and parents. As the President of ELLTAS (English Language and Literature Teachers’ Association, Singapore), she is committed to serving the professional language and literacy needs of teachers. She is also on the Review Board of Asia TEFL Journal and the Language Journal. Dr Maha Sripathy graduated with MA in Applied Linguistics, MEd Audit (Australia) and PhD (Australia).

Registration Details

Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis and workshop fees must be paid before the workshop. If the minimum number of participants is not met for the class, the organisers will inform all participants about possible postponement and cancellation, two weeks before the workshop date.

Cancellation & Substitution

The workshop can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the workshop date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.

Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to five (5) working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Participants can also attend another course at the same value within the same year.

Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation, withdrawal and substitution policy and accept the terms contained therein.
