Understanding the 3 basic elements is important for anyone who wants to write for children in Tamil.
First: What is the priority of a child-reader in Tamil today?
Second: How to build-up a child’s language structure in Tamil?
Third: What are the qualities needed to be successful in writing for children in Tamil?
This workshop is for beginners who wish to write for children. It will focus on how to develop writing skills. It will also highlight the art of creating stories and show how general information books and books on Science and History can be developed into adventure stories that children love to read. The participants will be given hands-on writing exercises that may well develop into the participants’ first book in Tamil for children!
About the Trainer: Era Natarasan
Era Natarasan @ Aysha Natarasan is a Tamil children literature writer, translator and novelist. Aysha, Rose, Poojyamam Andu, Naga and Malar Algebra are some of his well known works. His work Poojyamam Andu (Year Zero) was printed in Braille for the visually handicapped, the first Tamil work to do so. He is also a regular contributor to various children’s magazines, such as Chutti Vikadan, Thulir, Gokulam, Pudhiya Thalaimurai (Kalvi), etc. Three of his stories have been made into short films and some of his works have been translated into many languages including English and French.
As an eminent scholar and teacher, he was conferred the Dr. Radhakrishnan State Award for his contribution in the field of Education and Child-Rights. He currently lives in Cuddalore, a Southern town of India and is principal of a private higher secondary school.
Registration Details
Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis and workshop fees must be paid before the workshop. If the minimum number of participants is not met for the class, the organisers will inform all participants about possible postponement and cancellation, two weeks before the workshop date.
Cancellation & Substitution
The workshop can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the workshop date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.
Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to five (5) working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Participants can also attend another course at the same value within the same year.
Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation, withdrawal and substitution policy and accept the terms contained therein.
